About Us

History of SAIEH
Established in 1996

The South African Institute of Environmental Health (SAIEH) is an organization for professions within the field of environmental health and is a non-profit organization (NGO), non-trade union organization and believes that a safe and healthy environment is a basic human right.

 The SAIEH is affiliated to the International Federation of Environmental Health and is fully recognized by the South African government i.e. the National Department of Health.

Mission

To promote the science and practice of environmental health thus capacitating members to render a professional service and ensure optimum participation of all stakeholders in environmental health matters.

Vision

To be the nationally and internationally recognized leading professional organization in the field of Environmental Health.

Aims and Objectives

  • Advance and promote the science and practice of Environmental Health.
  • Affiliate and liaise with Local, National and International bodies aimed at promoting the science and practice of Environmental Health as well as public / community health.
  • Protect and promote the interests and status of all members registered with the Institute.
  • Promote strong unity amongst members irrespective of race, colour, sex, religion, creed, political aspiration and / or affiliation.
  • Promote the professionalism of its members.
  • Create structures that would promote and enable involvement and participation in the affairs of the Institute by members at all levels.
  • Promote the basic training as well as comprehensive /specialized advanced education of environmental health professionals as well as environmental health research.

SAIEH HAS BEEN GIVEN FULL RECOGNITION BY THE FOLLOWING ORGANISATIONS:
